Muscat: More than 600 expatriates were arrested in the period between 27 November and 3 December for violating the Omani labour law, the Ministry of Manpower reported.
Of the 640 arrested workers, 493 were commercial, 78 agricultural and 69 domestic workers.
The ministry said that 421 of the arrested were absconding workers, 165 terminated and 22 undocumented.
North Al Batinah governorate recorded the highest number of violations with 193 workers while Al Buraimi came second with 132.
Meanwhile, the ministry deported 409 illegal labourers during the same period.
