Earthquake: Omani students in New Zealand safe

Muscat: All 161 Omani university students in New Zealand are safe and well after an earthquake measuring 7.8 hit the town of Christchurch, the Director of External Scholarships at the Ministry of Higher Education has said.
Ahmed Al Azri, director, has made sure that the ministry, represented by the Consulate General in Melbourne, has followed up closely on the safety of the students studying in New Zealand’s universities.
They have also asked students to exercise caution and follow instructions issued by the Civil Defence and the Department of Tawari in New Zealand.
The Ministry of Higher Education has stopped sending new scholarship recipients to universities in Christchurch, due to the natural disasters that hit the city every now and then.
