Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre set to open

Muscat: Oman’s new, hi-tech convention centre will officially open on Monday.
The Sultanate’s new hub for business events, Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC), was developed by the country’s leading developer,Omran.
Infra Oman 2016, the 6th edition of Oman’s international trade event for infrastructure and industrial projects, will open on Monday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, Seeb.
Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salim Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, will preside over the formal inauguration of the exhibition at 10am.
The three-day event is being organised by Al Nimr Expo and supported by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities & Water Resources and the Muscat Municipality.

Dubbed as one of the largest building and construction expo in the Middle East, Infra Oman is considered the annual meeting place for industry leaders, suppliers and buyers in the Sultanate of Oman.
The exhibition focuses on construction requirements, green and future buildings, heavy equipment and technologies, hotel and tourism projects, industrial free zones, industrial manufacturing, power and water technologies, tools and equipment, transportation and logistics, infrastructure projects such as roads, airports, railways and ports, build and supply and other development projects. Infra Oman also comprises companies related to waste management, power and renewable energy and fire safety and security.

Infra Oman 2016 will feature more than 200 local and international exhibitors from countries such as Australia, Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Iran, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Libya, South Korea, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Infra Oman will also include country pavilions from India, Iran, Italy and the United Kingdom.
Salim Omar Al Hashmi, Chairman of Al Nimr Expo, said, “Infra Oman is the ideal platform for all contractors and developers to meet, thus giving them an opportunity to present their projects and achievements and source their requirements. Infra Oman has grown significantly since its inception in 2011, establishing itself as the Middle East’s leading infrastructure and industrial projects exhibition.”
Trevor McCartney, General Manager of the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, said, “The construction industry is Oman’s largest sector after oil, and plays a key role in boosting economic development.
In recent years, the government has made significant investment in infrastructure, such as airports, roads, ports, industrial estates, free zones and technology parks. This powerful combination of factors makes Infra Oman an incredibly important event for the country.”
The other exhibitions lined up in October include EduTraC Oman from October 18 to 20, the Lebanese Week in Muscat from October 23 to 25 and the Oman International Child Book and Products Fair fromOctober 25 to 29.
EduTraC Oman serves as a multi-sector recruitment event for higher education, training and job opportunities.
The expo will offer a strategic awareness opportunity to higher education and training providers to strengthen their presence in Oman’s vibrant education market.
The expo will also feature a pavilion for job seekers to meet HR personnel from different industrial sectors, associations, government organisations and private sector companies which will promote the available on-the-job training and job vacancies for prospective candidates.
The Lebanese week in Muscat will include an exhibition of various Lebanese products and services, an economic forum, and bilateral business meetings between Lebanese businessmen and their Omani counterparts.
The Oman International Child Book and Products Fair will be an opportunity for those who like to put their mark through children books publishing companies.
