Oman health: Cheer after first delivery at the newly opened Burjeel Hospital

Muscat: Although its official opening only happened yesterday, Burjeel Hospital has already had its first delivery - Abdal Rehaaman, a boy is the first baby to be born at the hospital to a Syrian father and a Palestinian mother living in Oman.
At the time of delivery the boy’s weight was 2.9 kilo, according to his father.

According to Christopher Evans, the Chief Executive Officer of Burjeel Hospital in Oman, Amal Riyadh, the mother, came in to the hospital on July 21 and delivered a healthy boy six days later.
The delivery is an important milestone for the hospital because Maternity is one of Burjeel’s key services, “We are focusing on Maternity and also have a separate operation theatre dedicate for women with C-section operations.”
Nashat Kannan, the boy’s father said that Burjeel Hospital was recommended to them by a doctor who said that this was a new hospital with great facilities which would make the whole experience easier.
“This is our third child and I must say that the service was very good, we were also treated very well and were given a VIP room and a special discount and an iPad as part of the experience.”
Burjeel Hospital is Oman’s premier state-of-the art healthcare facility which is located in Al Khuwair and is all set to offer specialised acute medical treatment and services to the local communities in line with top international standards and practices.
Besides Maternity, the hospital will also focus on keeping people within Oman for treatments instead of having to go abroad with the help of competitive rates and specialised services.

Complementing the opening, the hospital has also decided to perform 1,000 free mammograms for female patients in Muscat.
“In order to address the growing concern regarding cancer especially breast cancer, as it goes unreported most of the time, we would like to raise public awareness about the disease. The hospital will be setting up a state-of- the-art mammogram machine and will offer 1,000 free mammograms.” Evans further said.
