Muscat: The Food Safety and Quality Center issues an explanation about the presence of a substance on Vimto drink that may have a negative impact on children's activity and focus.

The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources notes in its statement, "A vimto drink was examined after circulating tweets and videos on social media about it is negative impact and the presence of the phrase on it is bottle reads that substance - E129 Alura red - may have a negative impact on the activity and focus of children."

The ministry in its statement stated, "The Vimto drink contains food additives and is permitted by the World Health Organization according to certain standards, including E129 Allura red."

"Companies which use this substance are required to write a phrase "that may have a negative impact on the activity and concentration of children" within the list of ingredients in order to ensure the consumer's right to know, as the presence of these warnings gave the consumer the option to buy the commodity or not," the ministry added on the statement.

The Food Safety and Quality Center confirms that it periodically withdraws samples from various food products and performs laboratory analyzes on them to ensure that they are safe for consumption and meet the approved standard specifications.
