The passengers terminal building includes two gates for these large aircrafts linked to boarding bridges, the ministry tweeted on its official twitter account.
Additionally, there will be 82 Royal Oman Police (ROP) check-in counters and 118 airlines check in counters at the new airport.
“There will be three main entrances available in the terminal leading to these levels, additionally VIP departure and arrival lounges. The passenger terminal building will have three wings (three levels for each) and center area connecting the wings (five levels),” the tweet added.
The total gross floor area of the passenger terminal building is 580,000m2.
Earlier in the day, the ministry had tweeted that construction of the Passengers Terminal building (PTB) at the new Muscat International Airport is in the final stage.
The passenger terminal building is part of the new airport’s project MC3 phase.
In another tweet, the ministry has said that the 91 per cent of MC3 phase has been completed.
This year in February, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications (MoTC), had said that construction of the new Muscat International Airport will be completed in 2016.
The new Muscat International Airport is expected to have a capacity to handle more than 12 million passengers every year.
