Speeding, overload, use of mobile phone caused Hamriya accident: Royal Oman Police

Muscat: Speeding, overload and use of mobile phone while driving resulted in Saturday’s Hamriya accident which had claimed two lives and leaving one with serious injuries in a hospital, a top police official said.
A truck from a food and water distribution company drove off from a bridge in Hamriya near Ruwi yesterday afternoon claiming two two lives.
“Speeding, overload and use of mobile phone while driving resulted in the accident,” Col Saeed Nasser Al Siyabi said in a statement.
“Additionally, nine people who were filming at the accident site were also arrested by the police,” the police official added.
One Omani and his Bangladeshi helper on board of the vehicle died in the accident. Another Bangladeshi helper on-board of the ill-fated vehicle suffered serious injuries.
