Muscat: Oman is the fourth biggest source market for visitors to Dubai and the fastest growing within the GCC, according to statistics released by Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) on Monday.
In the first quarter of 2016, 322,000 Omanis visited Dubai, up 32 percent compared to the same period last year, when 244,000 Omanis visited Dubai.
Visitors from GCC countries constituted 25 percent of all international visitors to Dubai, which reached 4.1 million in the first quarter of 2016, up from 3.9 million visitors in the same period last year.
Other top source markets are Saudi Arabia with 476,000 visitors, India with 467,000 visitors and the United Kingdom (UK) with 334,000 visitors. India is a growing source market for tourists to Dubai, with an increase of 17 percent, as well as Saudi Arabia (14 percent increase) and Qatar (26 percent increase).
In 2015, Dubai received a total of 14.2 million international visitors, of whom 1,002,000 came from Oman.
