Muscat: Oman Cricket successfully concluded its tour to India and Bangladesh for World Cup T20 and Asia Cup and would like to thank the whole of Oman for their passionate support. Scaling these new heights at International level would not have been possible without your inspiration.
The Oman team is currently preparing for the World Cricket League (WCL5) to be held in Jersey from the 21st May-28th May 2016. The 6 teams contesting are listed as follows based on seeding starting from one to six and they are Oman, Jersey, Tanzania, Nigeria, Guernsay and Vanuatu. The six teams will play a total of 18 matches, including the Final. The two finalists of the ICC WCL Division 5 will earn a promotion to Division 4, which is scheduled to be played later in the year.
In line with this preparation for the 50 over format, the selection committee of Oman Cricket has decided to infuse new faces into the squad with the future in mind, and a change in leadership to assist the foray into the longer format. Ajay Lalcheta, who is a senior member of the squad and previously captained Premier Division side Al Turki, will step in as the new captain. He will be deputized by Jatinder Singh, the young Muscat CT batsman, who will serve as vice captain.
Oman Cricket is extremely grateful to Sultan Ahmed who captained the team over the last few years and oversaw the team to new heights, especially in the 20 over format. We are forever indebted to him for his commitment and services to Oman Cricket.
