Muscat: Amid noticeable drop in attendance, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) management said any student who is unable to go to campus today because of current weather conditions will have the absence excused.
However, the university did not cancel its classes despite heavy rains.

"Since many students may need to travel for long distances to reach the university in such unstable weather, Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, the Vice Chancellor of SQU, directed that the professors must consider the weather conditions for the absence of the students and reschedule their test," an official at the university told the Times of Oman.
Students have been sharing images of the damages on the campus and some facilities.
A statue of a dinosaur at the College of Science and was completely destroyed by the rain on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, some of the top colleges including Oman Medical College, Majan College, German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) and Sohar University have announced closure.
On Tuesday, heavy rain fell in Buraimi, Sohar, Nizwa, Ibri, Nakhal and Muscat.
