Muscat: Heavy rain fell in the Muscat governorate on Tuesday.
After a day-long search, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Department in Al Mudhaibi with the help of citizens found the body of an Omani who was trapped in Wadi Kabbarah in Al Aflaj area in the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi.
Two persons trapped in the same wadi due to heavy rains in the wilayat on Monday.
Road communication was cut off as heavy rain and hailstorm fell in Nizwa, Nakhal, Rustaq, Ibri, Suwaiq and Sohar in the afternoon.
Muscat also witnessed heavy rain late in the evening.
There were reports of power disruption in Wadi Kabir area and a lamp post was also uprooted in the area during the rain.
While, residents in Al Maawal reported a hailstorm, residents of Samail, Nakhal, Sohar said they had not witnessed such heavy rainfall in the past few years.
Mohammed Faisal, a Muscat-based resident, said the rain, which started at around 5:30 pm lasted for an hour.
“Roads are flooded, slowing the traffic and wadis are overflowing in many areas in Muscat. Mabelah, Hail, Seeb, Bauhser, Al Khuwair, Ruwi, Muttrah and old Muscat witnessed heavy rains. It was quite risky to drive, so we stopped and waited for it to be over,” Faisal added.
