Muscat: South Indian superstar Nivin Pauly’s film Action Hero Biju has become the highest grosser at the Kerala box office, and has been getting tremendous response from movie-goers and critics alike ever since its release on February 4.
Due to the positive reviews, Malayali expats living in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have been eagerly waiting to watch the Abrid Shine-directed movie on the big screen.
As a result, Action Hero Biju is set for a record release in the GCC across more than 100 screens on Thursday.
The film will be released on 68 screens in the United Arab Emirates alone. “The movie has been getting an amazing response ever since we put up the ‘coming soon’ board in the theatre. The bookings have already started,” said Abdul Rahman of Star Cinema in Muscat.
“I am sure the weekends will be house-full because Nivin Pauly has a huge fan following in this part of the world,” he said.
The movie will be released in Oman across all major theatres, including in Star Cinema, VOX Cinema and City Cinema.
“This will be a new record, compared with other Malayalam films released in the GCC so far,” said a film distributor based in Dubai.
Action Hero Biju narrates the story of Biju Paulose (Nivin Pauly), a holder of two Masters’ degrees, who quits his teaching job to become a sub-inspector. The movie traces his journey through a number of cases that he has to handle, and thus, chronicles the routine life of a committed police officer.
There is nothing larger-than-life in Biju’s role and that’s what makes this honest cop believable. The movie also marks Nivin Pauly's debut as a producer.
