Muscat: Four children have drowned over the weekend in various parts of the Sultanate.
On Saturday, the Directorate General of Education in Northern Batinah announced that two siblings had died after drowning in Sawadi beach.
The education authority put out a statement offering condolences to the parents of the two students. “The boy who was in the eighth class and the girl who was in the sixth class died after drowning off Sawadi beach,” the directorate said.
An Omani citizen was drowned in Wadi Al Hoqain in the Wilayat of Rustaq, according to the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA).
PACDA said: “The Civil Defence and Ambulance teams in South Al Batinah responded to a report of a drowning of a 12th grader in Wadi Al Hoqain. The teams managed to take him out of the wadi, but he was found dead.”
In another case on Friday, PACDA team at Southern Sharqiyah responded to “ a report of a child that drowned in Wilayat Jalan Bani Bu Ali. The child was found dead.”
