Muscat: More than 3,000 pieces of children's sweets containing imagess that violate public morals were seized in Al Dakhiliyah.
The Consumer Protection Department in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, specifically the Markets Regulation and Control Section, recently took action against a commercial establishment in Nizwa that was selling children's sweets containing drawings that violated public morals. This act was considered a clear violation of the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations.
During routine inspection visits to shops and commercial centers in the governorate, law enforcement officers discovered a commercial establishment selling children's sweets that violated public morals, totaling 3,571 items. These goods were confiscated, legal action was taken, and an administrative fine was imposed on the violating institution. When questioned about why the owner of the establishment was selling these products, he claimed ignorance regarding their prohibition.
This incident highlights the importance for business owners to maintain regular communication with the relevant authorities, enhance their awareness, and stay updated on new regulatory decisions in the markets. They should also ensure that their goods meet the required specifications and standards.
