Muscat: The National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI), has obtained the ISO certificate for the Information Security Management System.
The National Center for Statistics and Information obtained the ISO certificate for the Information Security Management System, which is awarded by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in recognition of its application of the highest levels of excellence in the field of information protection and security.
His Excellency Dr. Khalifa bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al Barwani, CEO of the National Center for Statistics and Information, explained that the Center’s obtaining the ISO 27001 certificate came as a result of the tireless efforts it is making to provide a secure statistical and information environment in all the tasks and work assigned to it and updating its electronic services, its electronic portals and digital platforms are committed to applying the highest international security standards, and its reliance on security controls standards to protect information against security risks.
His Excellency stated that granting the center the ISO 27001 certificate came after its success in passing all rounds of evaluation and audit to verify compliance with the requirements of this standard, which reflects the extent of the integration of the information security and data protection program implemented at the National Center for Statistics and Information.
His Excellency the CEO of the National Center for Statistics and Information said that this achievement is part of the information security programme that the Center is pursuing to adopt the best practices and procedures in the field of information security. This certificate reflects appreciation for his role in implementing a comprehensive program to ensure the application of all information security controls, which would contribute to strengthening security controls and protecting the enormous data and information that the center possesses.
His Excellency stressed that this certificate will allow the center to achieve the highest levels of security and protect electronic systems with high efficiency. It will also contribute to containing the repercussions resulting from human errors, ensuring a safe and reliable information environment for all relevant parties.
It is noteworthy that the ISO 27001:2022 ISO/IEC certificate in the information security management system is granted by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), an international accreditation service organization in the United Kingdom that specialises in the field of developing administrative systems, training, evaluating performance, quality of services, and calculating globally applicable quality measurements.
