Passengers at Oman Airports increase 21.6% by end of January 2024
Muscat: The total number of passengers travelling through airports in the Sultanate of Oman by the end of January 2024 increased by 21.6% to stand at 1,417,442 compared to 1,165,556 by the end of January 2023, according to the preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Statistics indicate that the number of passengers through Muscat International Airport stood at 1,290,552 by the end of January 2024, constituting a rise by 22.7%. Those passengers traveled onboard 8,756 flights (up by 16%).
Of the flights, 9,090 were international flights carrying 1,200,822 passengers, while 666 domestic flights carried 89,730 passengers.
The Indian nationality topped the list in terms of the numbers of passengers through Muscat International Airport, with the number of inbound passengers standing at 86,234 and outbound passengers standing at 82,807. They were followed with Bangladeshi passengers, who stood at 16,388 inbound passengers and 24,877 outbound passengers.
Passengers of Pakistani nationality came next with 23,529 inbound passengers and 25,303 outbound passengers.
Meanwhile, the number of passengers through Salalah Airport stood at 120,506, constituting an increase by 14% onboard 809 flights (up by 4.5%).
The number of international flights through Salalah Airport stood at 423 with 58,657 passengers onboard. The number of domestic flights stood at 386 with as many as 61,849 passengers onboard.
Moreover, the number of passengers through Sohar Airport stood at 1,014 (onboard 32 flights), while the number of passengers through Duqm Airport stood at 5,370 (onboard 54 flights).
