Desalination plant opens in Wilayat of Shalim and Al Halaniyat Islands

Shaleem and Al Halaniyat Islands: The Wilayat of Shaleem and Al Halaniyat Islands in the Governorate of Dhofar on Tuesday celebrated the opening of Reverse Osmosis Plant designed to deliver 1,500 cubic metres per day.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar.

The plant will contribute to the development of the wilayat by covering the needs of residential neighbourhoods of Hoqqa, Zakher, Ajarit and adjoining areas. The station will rid the residents of the need to get water supplies transported by tankers over long distances, besides improving the quality and supply of fresh water.

The project is funded by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in coordination with the Office of the Governor of Dhofar. The project stems from PDO’s social responsibility programmes aimed at serving local communities all over the Sultanate of Oman.
