Oman elected President of seventh session of United Nations Environment Assembly

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman was elected President of the seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly at the conclusion of the meeting of the sixth session of the assembly in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

Among the most prominent decisions were the adoption of the results of the nominations of geopolitical groups for the positions of President, Vice President, and members of the Executive Office.

Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Agency, was elected President of the seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly.

The selection of the Sultanate of Oman as president of the session reflects the extent of the international community’s confidence in it, its pioneering role in protecting the environment and preserving its natural resources, and its position in support of international efforts aimed at preserving the environment.

 It is noteworthy that the United Nations Environment Assembly is one of the most important international associations and the highest body in the United Nations concerned with environmental affairs. It has an active role in protecting ecosystems and biodiversity, combating desertification, supporting the green and circular economy, and reducing pollution. Its decisions also have an important role in shaping the environmental future.
