Kampala: Delegated by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sheikh Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council headed the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation at the Third South Summit (G77+China), which kicked off in Kampala, Uganda on Sunday.
The summit was attended by President Yoweri Museveni of the Republic of Uganda, with the participation of 134 leaders, in addition to heads of international organisations.
During his speech, the Chairman of the State Council conveyed greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and his best wishes of success to the summit.
Al Khalili underscored Oman’s keenness to reflect its obligations by achieving the sustainable development goals 2030 (SDGs 2030).
This can be achieved through the country’s development plans and programmes which are based on the principles of the right to development for all, eradicating poverty and providing a decent life for all segments of society.
Social protection
Further, Al Khalili said that the Social Protection System comes in harmony with Oman Vision 2040. The system is among Oman’s priorities which are implemented through policies and programmes of social collaboration aimed at ensuring the sustainability of decent life and the stability of the family and society.
The Chairman of the State Council also noted that the G77 and China, which represent 80 percent of the world’s population, should shoulder their responsibility by practicing political and legal pressure to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and supporting the Palestinian right to a safe and dignified life. -ONA
