Muscat: The Embassy of Spain in the Sultanate of Oman has organised the Spanish Family Cinema Week on 13 and 14 December 2023 at 19.30 PM at Cinepolis, Avenues Mall, Muscat.
The event was inaugurated in the presence of the Director of Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Mr. Ibrahim Bani Oruba, as Guest of Honor, on behalf of HE Sayyid Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
Among the attendees, around 200 on the first day and 150 on the second day, there were many Omani students of Spanish language, from both the Sultan Qaboos University and the international Schools in Oman.
During this Spanish Family Cinema week, two movies were screened according to the following schedule:
“PADRE NO HAY MAS QUE UNO” Part I (12+), on Wednesday, 13 December 2023
“PADRE NO HAY MAS QUE UNO” Part II (12+), on Thursday, 14 December 2023
Both films were in Spanish version with English subtitles.
The aim of this event is to offer a glimpse of Spanish contemporary cinema to the audience in Oman in general and to all those interested in the Spanish language and its culture.
These were family movies that offer comedy from different settings, angles and perspectives, showcasing the variety of Spanish cinema in these particular genres:
PADRE NO HAY MAS QUE UNO” Part I: A family father discovers how hard it is to take care of his five children while his wife leaves him alone with them for one week of holidays.
PADRE NO HAY MAS QUE UNO” Part II: Javier’s life turns into disarray twice: not only when Marisa announces that she’s pregnant, but also when she calls the most feared people by him to help them.
The Spanish Family Cinema Week was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of the Embassy of Spain to the Sultanate of Oman, the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain and with the collaboration of The Foreign Ministry of Oman. A special thanks also to Cinepolis, Avenues Mall.
During both evenings, snacks and drinks were served.
