Muscat: Oman's Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi issued a statement commenting on His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s State visit to India.
The statement issued by the foreign ministry stated that the visit reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral relationship between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India and marked a new and positive stage in its historic development.
The Minister's statement adds that the visit expressed a commitment by both countries to strengthen cooperation based on long-standing foundations of friendship, cultural and economic exchange, and existing ties between the people of India and Oman.
“His Majesty’s meetings with President Droupadi Murmu and with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focussed on tangible cooperation between Oman and India, that looks to the future of both countries, with a particular emphasis on the economy, technology, energy, trade, and investment,” adds the statement.
The visit adopted a joint vision which identified several key areas for cooperation. This included the two countries’ desire to conclude a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, as well as enhancing collaboration in the fields of maritime security, combatting terrorism, space technologies and a wide range of research, training, and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
“The Sultanate of Oman welcomes this significant enhancement of Oman – India relations which will make a substantial contribution both to the stability and security of the Indian Ocean region and to the realisation of sustainable economic development goals for the benefit of the countries and the region,” the statement concluded.
