Muscat: Four people were imprisoned for six months and fined OMR 1,000 for hunting and killing an Arabian gazelle in Dhofar Governorate.
The Court of Appeal in Salalah issued a ruling convicting the defendants of the misdemeanor of hunting and killing an Arabian gazelle in Dhofar Governorate, and ruled that all four defendants be punished with six months imprisonment, a fine of OMR 1,000, and confiscation of the seized items.
The second defendant was convicted of a misdemeanor of bird hunting and was sentenced to three months in prison, and a misdemeanor of possessing conventional weapons without a license from the competent authorities, and was punished with one month in prison, with the penalties being the most severe.
The Environment Authority calls on everyone to preserve and not exploit wildlife, to avoid legal accountability.
