Muscat: The Muscat-based duo of Yousof Zarrabi and Atharv Yadav from Team Laddoo, representing the Sultanate of Oman, participated in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) that was held in Panama earlier this month.
The pair competed in the RoboMission senior competition at the WRO Panama 2023, where competitions were held in four categories: RoboMission (elementary, junior and senior), Robosport, Future Innovators (elementary, junior and senior) and Future Engineers.
In Panama, 451 teams from 81 countries, including Oman, participated in the competition.
They qualified from a total of 20,044 teams from 92 countries that were involved in WRO competitions in the 2023 season worldwide.
The WRO national competition of Oman was held in June, under the able guidance of Oman’s chief organiser, coach and mentor Vahid Jourabchi. A total of 30 teams across Oman participated in the four categories with the winning teams from each group selected to participate in the WRO Finals Panama 2023.
However, only the Robomission senior team travelled to Panama. Yousof and Atharv competed against 90 other teams in the category. Team Laddoo achieved bronze participation and gained an invaluable learning experience.
