Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik today issued two Royal decrees reading as follows:

Royal Decree No. 78/2023 deals with oathtaking.

Article (1) states that—with the exception of the oath to be taken before the Sultan, the oath to be taken by members of the State Council, the Shura Council and judges—oathtaking stipulated by laws shall be performed by signing an Oath to be written in the following wording: “In the name of Allah, the Almighty, I swear to respect the Basic Law of the State and enforced laws and legislations, to carry out my duties truthfully, honourably and honestly and to safeguard public funds, as well as the dignity and integrity of my profession and its secrets”.

Prior to assuming their tasks, all employees of the State’s Administrative Apparatus and other public legal persons shall pledge to sign the Oath stated in the first clause of this article.

Article (2) cancels all that contradicts this decree or contravenes its provisions.

Article (3) says that this decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from the day following its date of publishing.

Royal Decree No. (79/2023) ratifies an agreement between the government of the Sultanate of Oman and the government of the Slovak Republic on mutual visa waiver for holders of diplomatic, special and service passports, signed in New York on 21 September 2023.

Article (1) ratifies the abovementioned agreement as per the version attached to this decree.
