Muscat: The General Directorate of Consumer Protection (CPA) in North Al Batinah Governorate has taken a significant step by temporarily closing a travel and tourism establishment based on a judicial decision.
This action was prompted by numerous complaints lodged against the establishment, primarily stemming from its failure to uphold standards of transparency, credibility, and the provision of services as per the agreed-upon terms.
These complaints revolved around consumers who had engaged with the establishment to book travel tickets. Unfortunately, it came to light that the tickets provided were counterfeit, and the reservations made were not genuine. Furthermore, the establishment failed to follow through on visa issuance and the execution of agreements, leading to significant delays in refunding the costs of canceled tickets to some consumers. Additionally, the establishment refused to provide final tickets to others.
In response to these grievances, the General Directorate of Consumer Protection in North Al Batinah Governorate conducted a thorough investigation, which subsequently led to the matter being referred to the Public Prosecution. In turn, the Public Prosecution issued a judicial decision to temporarily shut down the establishment and suspend its activities until the ongoing legal cases against it are resolved.
