Budapest: The Omani Karate Committee is participating in the 26th World Karate Championship, which is scheduled to be held in the city of Budapest, Hungary, from October 24 to 29, 2023. This championship will bring together 1,132 male and female senior players from 112 countries around the world.
The Omani national karate team delegation includes the following players: Saeed bin Ali Al Shabibi - under 67 kg, and Idris bin Ali Al-Batrani - under 60 kg. The team is led by coach Ali bin Saeed Al-Shabibi, with international referee Hilal bin Mohammad Al-Abdali, and the head of the delegation, His Excellency Salem bin Hamad Al-Mahrooqi, Chairman of the Omani Karate Committee.
It's worth mentioning that the national karate team previously participated in the West Asian Championship in Sharjah in 2022, where they secured one gold medal and five bronze medals.
