Muscat: A specialised medical team from Khoula Hospital, in cooperation with the Neurology Department at Sohar Hospital in North Al Batinah Governorate, succeeded in an urgent intervention in Cerebral angiography of a patient.
Dr. Ahmed bin Hamoud Al Habsi, who supervised the team said that Cerebral angiography was performed on a patient suffering from a cerebral hemorrhage and arteriovenous malformations (AVMs).
The team successfully completed the operation, and Dr Al Habsi further added that this type of operation replaces the need for brain surgery.
Dr Al Habsi pointed out that the patient’s condition required an urgent Cerebral angiography, which required the presence of the specialised team from Khoula Hospital due to the difficulty of transporting the patient to Muscat Governorate.
He further stressed that performing such cases and cases of severe strokes has now become possible at Sohar Hospital because of the difficulty of transporting patients to Khoula Hospital in a short time.
It is noteworthy that this cooperation and integration in providing health services, including specialised medical services, comes in support of the decentralisation policy implemented by the Ministry of Health, represented by the General Directorate of Khoula Hospital.
