Muscat: The seventh meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries ministers responsible for tourism was held at the Oman Over Time Museum in Wilayat of Manah. The meeting chaired by the Sultanate of Oman, - discussed several topics including the work of the joint Gulf team to implement the Gulf strategy for tourism and the general framework of the “Tourism Statistics” platform
The most important results and recommendations of the meeting are as follows:
1. Adopting the initiatives of the Gulf Tourism Strategy 2023-2030 which includes :
-Unified tourist visa among the GCC countries.
-Joint promotional programmes and marketing campaigns.
- Exchanging experiences and knowledge in the field of tourism statistics and data.
-Tourist guidance in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
2. Joint work between the tourism and culture sectors in the GCC countries to prepare an action plan and implementation timetable for the “Our Gulf” initiative the incubator of civilisations.
3. Declaring Manama in the Kingdom of Bahrain as the capital of Gulf tourism for the year 2024
4. Adopting the guideline for tourism in the GCC countries, and authorising the committee of ministers responsible for tourism in the GCC countries update it whenever necessary.
5. Submitting a report periodically to the General Secretariat on the tourist statistics platform and promoting the platform through the media and communication platforms Social.
6. Opening new channels of communication with brotherly and friendly countries and international organisations in the field of tourism.
7. Assigning the Gulf Tourism Strategy Committee to highlight the efforts, visions and projects of member states related to the field of entertainment.
8. Exchange of experiences and on-the-job training in the tourism sector.
9. Providing the necessary support to the Sultanate of Oman in its nomination file for the state of Sur to be the capital of Arab tourism in 2024.
As part of meeting programme their Excellencies the ministers responsible for tourism in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, have a tour in Jabal Al Akhdar, and they learn about the unique natural and cultural elements it abounds in, which have made it a distinctive destination for tourists from around the world.
