Ruler of Sharjah visits National Museum
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, visited the National Museum

Muscat: Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, and the delegation accompanying him today visited the National Museum as part of his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

Sheikh Dr. Sultan was received by Jamal Al Moosawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum, and a number of museum officials.

The Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah and the delegation accompanying him toured the Museum and its galleries, and listened to a comprehensive explanation about the museum. The briefing highlighted important aspects of the history and civilization of the Sultanate of Oman, most notably the Land and People gallery and the Maritime History gallery.

In the Land and People’s gallery, Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi viewed a number of collections that embody the established fraternal relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates, most notably a curved sword presented in 2004, and a model of Qasr Al Hosn in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, presented in the year 1999 on the occasion of the demarcation of the borders between the two countries. The model was presented from the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

The Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah saw a collection of paintings by the artist and Captain Charles Golding Constable dating back to the 19th Century documenting scenes from the Arabian Gulf and Musandam Peninsula, and other drawings selected from the book “16 Scenes of Places in the Persian Gulf between the years (1809 - 1810) depicting the period of the English attack on Ras Al Khaima and Shinas by Lieutenant Richard Temple (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland) dating back to 1813.

Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi toured the Maritime History gallery and looked at the original manuscript of “The Book of the Benefits of the Principles and Foundations of Seamanship” by the Omani navigator Ahmed bin Majid as-Saadi, which was loaned from the Al Assad National Library in the Syrian Arab Republic.

At the conclusion of the visit, Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi wrote a word in the museum’s VIP visitors’ register in which he expressed his thanks to those in charge of the National Museum for the comprehensive explanation and valuable information they provided, and the continuity in explaining and clarifying facts.

Further, Jamal Al Moosawi, Secretary General of the National Museum, presented Sheikh Dr. Sultan with a set of Museum publications.

During his visit to the National Museum, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah was accompanied by Dr. Abdullah Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information.
