Muscat : More than 25 expatriates were arrested for violating provisions of the Labour Law in the Wilayat of Barka, South Al Batinah Governorate,Ministry of Labour said.
The Ministry of Labour, represented by the Office of the Joint Inspection Team in the Directorate General of Labour in the South Al Batinah Governorate, in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police and the Municipality of Barka, carried out an inspection campaign on some private sector establishments and workers’ gatherings in the Wilayat of Barka.29 violators of the provisions of the Labour Law were arrested in possession of some prohibited materials.
Ministry of Labour added, "The legal measures are being taken against the violators."
In another incident, five smugglers were arrested for smuggling more than 30 kilograms of crystal narcotics and morphine in North Al Batinah Governorate, Royal Oman Police (ROP), said.
"The North Al Batinah Governorate Police Command arrested five people of Asian nationalities on charges of smuggling more than 30 kilograms of crystal narcotics and morphine. The legal procedures were completed against them," ROP said in a statement.
