Muscat: Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism received here on Tuesday Dr. Bandar Fahd Al Fahid, President of the Arab Tourism Organisation (ATO).
The meeting reviewed the current procedures for registering the city of Sur as the Arab Tourism Capital for next year, according to the nomination file that was submitted to the secretariat of the Council of Arab Tourism Ministers and the Arab Tourism Organisation.
The two sides underlined the importance of highlighting the Arab world’s position in global tourism and means of utilising it, in addition to discussing the training plan presented by the ATO and the proposal of investment program in cooperation with banking institutions.
On his turn, the Heritage and Tourism Minister reviewed the comprehensive tourism development plan in Oman and future plans for the tourism sector that come in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The meeting was attended by a number of officials from both sides.
