MUSCAT: In line with its commitment to social responsibility, community development and the youth, Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, recently inaugurated the new Green Sports field for Al HumaidhaSports and Cultural Team in the Wilayat of Izki at an event held under the patronage of H.E. SheikhYounis bin Ali Al Manthri, Member of the Shura Council and Representative of Izki. The event was also attended by Hamdan Hamoud Al Bimani, Regional Manager, Dakhliyah,Bank Muscat and a number of officials and team members.
Addressing the gathering,Hamdan Hamoud Al Bimani, Regional Manager, Dakhliyah, Bank Muscat, congratulated the management, players and fans of the team and said: “The Green Sports programme reaffirms the bank’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and contributes substantially to encouraging the youth by providing green sports fields to help them develop their talents and skills. We wish success to all members of the Al Humaidha team in the coming years.”
On his part, Aref Subaa’ Al Amri, Head of Al Humaidha Sports and Cultural Team, expressed his happiness with the completion of the project and thanked Bank Muscat for its pioneering role in corporate social responsibility, particularly in Green Sports, which is contributing to the building of quality sports infrastructure across the Sultanate of Oman. He affirmed that the team would continue to work hard to develop the capabilities and talents of its members as a way to contribute to developing the overall sports sector in Oman.
Bank Muscat’s Green Sports programme is one of the leading CSR programs in Oman, which provides support to local sports teams as part of the bank’s efforts to develop sports infrastructure and green spaces throughout the Sultanate of Oman. The support includes greening of football pitches, water desalination and lighting. It is a matter of great encouragement that the Bank Muscat’s Green Sports programme has so far benefitted 183 teams with over 50,000 team members across the Sultanate of Oman. The bank recently announced the winners in the 12th edition of Green Sports programme, representing 20 teams from across the country.
Since its inception in 2012, theGreen Sports programme reaffirms the bank’s commitment to providing ample opportunities for young Omanis to develop their talents. It goes a long way in developing the sporting skills and talents of Omani youth, thereby leading to all-round development of the sport. It is worth mentioning that the football fields developed as part of the Green Sports programme serve as a gathering venue for social activities for children and youth.
