Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired the joint ministerial meeting between the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and His Excellency Yoshimasa Hayashi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of friendly Japan, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Riyadh.
The GCC side was headed by His Excellency Sayyed Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of His Excellency the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council. In his opening speech, His Excellency stressed the importance of joint international multilateral action in confronting global challenges, expressing confidence in the capabilities of the participating countries to take additional steps to strengthen the distinguished relations between the GCC countries and Japan.
His Excellency noted that Japan is an important partner and friend and that it has great weight on the regional and international arenas, expressing his hope to continue expanding the deep partnership with Japan, especially in the fields of tourism, energy and technology.
At the end of the meeting, the joint action plan for the period 2024-2028 was approved and the resumption of free trade agreement negotiations between the GCC countries and Japan was approved.
