Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said yesterday issued a Royal Decree, No. 17/2018, on the promulgation of the “Law on Weapons, Ammunitions and Explosives related to Military and Security Apparatuses”.
Article (1) states that the “Law on Weapons, Ammunitions and Explosives related to Military and Security Apparatuses”, attached to this decree, shall be enforced.
Article (2) stipulates that the Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs shall issue the decisions and regulations necessary for the implementation of the provisions of this law and that, until such decisions and regulations are issued, the current decisions and regulations shall continue to be applied without prejudice to the provisions of this law.
Article (3) instructs those addressed by the provisions of this law to adapt their status in accordance with its provisions within a period of six months from the date of its enforcement, and states that licences issued prior to the enforcement of this law shall continue to be valid till expiry.
Article (4) cancels all that contradicts this law or contravenes its provisions.
Article (5) says that this decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced after 6 months from its date of publishing.
