Workshop explores impact of artificial intelligence on society

Salalah: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology on Tuesday held a workshop on the programme titled ‘Future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its Impact on Our Society’.

The workshop was organised in conjunction with the Office of the Governor of Dhofar at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.

The programme aims at exploring the developments of AI, the challenges and opportunities it can provide to society and the economy, society’s literacy in modern technologies and enlightened public understanding of AI and its uses.

Five working papers were presented during the workshop. The first elaborated on the executive programme for AI, advanced technologies and the uses of generative AI, notably in accomplishing daily tasks.

The second paper discussed the Fourth Industrial Revolution and AI technologies and their impact on various sectors.

The third working paper means of developing content by means of AI.

The fourth paper deliberated the topic of education in the age of AI.

The fifth working paper discussed local laws regulating the uses of AI and existing models in this field.
