Shrimp fishing season for 2023 begins in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources(MAFWR) has announced the start of the 2023 shrimp fishing season, which begins in September and ends in November every year.

 The Ministry explained that the permitted fishing method is by using a type of net known as the 'ghaddaf'. The use of any other fishing methods is a violation of the Living Aquatic Wealth Law and its executive regulations. 

The Ministry thanked the fishermen for their commitment during the period when fishing and trading of shrimp was banned in the Sultanate, and stressed the importance of adhering to the specified fishing period.
