Royal Oman Police warns against fraudulent ads

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has warned the public of fraudsters who use fake advertisement to withdraw money from outside the Sultanate of Oman.

ROP said: “The General Department of Criminal Investigation and Research has monitored a fraudulent method in which the accused use the name of a local company to advertise the sale of a specific commodity via the WhatsApp application, and after filling out the bank information in the electronic link attached to the advertisement, the sums of money from their personal account are withdrawn from outside the Sultanate of Oman. •

The Royal Oman Police advises citizens and residents not to open electronic links except after ensuring their reliability and not to disclose personal data or bank accounts through social media.
