Ministry of Health ready to deal with Mekunu storm

Muscat: The medical response and public health sector in the Ministry of Health (MoH) are prepared to deal with the tropical storm Mekunu, the Ministry announced.

"The medical response and public health sector has completed its preparations to deal with the orbital situation Mekunu. The main committee and the sub-committees in the governorates of Dhofar and Al Wusta are completely ready to activate the emergency plan," MoH announced.
Hospitals too have geared up to deal with the storm and specialised beds are ready to support the governorates if needed, the Ministry said. "The committee has contacted all governorates and hospitals to make sure that they ready. Hospitals are equipped with specialised beds to support the affected governorates if necessary," the Ministry added.

The Central Health Directorate announced that Al-Jazer Hospital was ready to implement the crisis and emergency plan in anticipation of storm Mekunu. The availability of tools, medicines and the readiness of the medical and technical staff has been confirmed.
The Ministry of Health also shared telephone numbers of hospitals in Dhofar Governorate. Those in need can contact the MOH call centre through this number: 24441999.
