Heavy rainfall expected in several governorates of Oman

Muscat: Heavy rainfall ranging between 20-35 mm associated with downdraft winds are expected over various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman from 12 pm till 9 pm on Friday, August 11, 2023, said Oman Meteorology. 

 According to Oman Meteorology, the affected areas that may witness heavy rain are the mountainous areas of Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and North Al Sharqiyah Governorates. 

 "The expected impacts of heavy rain are: downdraft winds of 20-45 knots, poor horizontal visibility due to dust storms during thundershowers and chances of overflowing valleys," Oman Meteorology added. 

The  Meteorology has urged  people to move away from low-lying places, not to attempt to swim in valleys. Keep an eye on children and make sure they stay away from approaching or crossing valleys for the sake of public safety.
