Nama Water Services provides executive plan for initiative to employ treated water in agricultural production

Muscat: Nama Water Services continues its endeavor to support entrepreneurs and work with other institutions to achieve food security through a number of initiatives undertaken by the company.

To enhance this role, Nama Water Services signed an executive plan agreement for the initiative to employ, the company’s product, treated water in agricultural production SMEs products.

Commenting on this agreement, Qais bin Saud al Zakwani, Nama Water CEO, said, "The company continues to progress and expand in the field of treated water which comes to an effort to enhance the added value and to support the government's plans for employment and economic diversification.”

The CEO added, “The signing of this agreement is stemming from the Company’s belief in the importance of strategic cooperation with its partners, and to take advantage of the treated water, mainly by supporting the Small and Medium Enterprises and strengthening our role with partners in achieving the Country’s food security.”

He added: “We are pleased to sign this agreement and look forward to seeing the fruits of these projects soon - according to the approved plans.

He stressed that the company's role in this agreement is considered a major part, as it will provide the treated water to be invested in and used in agricultural projects.

It is worth mentioning that the treated water produced in Nama Water Services is considered as tertiary treatment according to the local and international standards followed in this regard, and is used in various agricultural and industrial works and other uses. The company produces 234,000 cubic meters of treated water per day. This water is used to irrigate green spaces, gardens, parks, and for cooling purposes in some commercial malls and some other industrial uses.
