Hajj Mission announces death of Omani pilgrim in Holy Lands

Makkah: The Omani Hajj mission on Sunday announced the death of Abdullah Said Al Rahbi, a 79-year-old Omani pilgrim who passed away in the Holy Lands after performing the farewell circumambulation of Hajj rituals (Tawaf Al Wadaa).

Sultan Said Al Hinai, head of the Omani Hajj Mission, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the mission’s team is taking necessary measures to finalise related procedures in cooperation with authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in the presence of relatives of the deceased.

He prayed to the Almighty Allah to rest the deceased’s soul in the abodes of Heaven and grant his relatives patience and solace.

In an exclusive interview with Times of Oman, Abdullah bin Hamdoun Al-Rahbi, the nephew of the deceased, said: “My uncle was of very good nature and will always be remembered for his deeds. Everyone used to respect him and he used to get all the love from the near and the dear ones.”

He also said, “We received bad news in the afternoon that he passed away on Sunday morning after performing the farewell circumambulation, which is the last pillar of Hajj. Though the news was a huge shock for us, we are happy that he died in Makkah and every Muslim wishes to die in the holy land.”

Abdullah bin Hamdoun Al-Rahbi also confirmed that his funeral will take place in the Grand Mosque in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and he will be buried in one of the cemeteries designated for the Hajj pilgrims who die while performing Hajj.

Al-Rahbi also indicated that prayers will be performed for his noble soul in the Wilayat of Dima Wal’Taeen in Naqsi area in North Sharqiyah Governorate.
