Muscat: A citizen who suffered a heart attack in Thailand was successfully transferred to Muscat Governorate, Royal Hospital said.
A medical team from the Royal Hospital, in cooperation with the Royal Air Force of Oman, transported a citizen who suffered a heart attack in Thailand. The patient's family appealed for his return to Muscat for further treatment.
The transportation posed a challenge because in order to stabilise his condition, a balloon pump was required inside the aorta on board. The task was made more complicated by the sensitivity of the device and the necessity of transporting it with a helium gas tube at a suitable pressure.
The patient was transferred carefully without disconnecting him from the aortic pump device. The medical team consisted of a first paramedic, an adult emergency consultant, and a senior cardiac perfusion technician.
