ROP boat catches fire at Muscat port

Muscat: A Royal Oman Police Coast Guard boat caught fire at the Sultan Qaboos Port in Muttrah on Sunday morning, police have confirmed. No injuries were reported.

According to an official statement, "The fire was caused by a technical failure on the boat... there has been no loss of life or injury, and the boat was transferred to a safe location in preparation for the complete control of the fire."

Oman's Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance had earlier confirmed social media reports of the incident.

Police later said that the fire had been "extingushed and put out completely" in the evening.
