This former Oman resident has received nine awards in education

Muscat: A former Oman resident who has received nine awards for her services to education has advised students to follow their passions, never give up and ignore the noise that surrounds them.
Dr Priyanka PV, who currently heads the Philip Kotler Centre for Advanced Marketing in Dubai – in collaboration with the legendary marketing guru – spent eight years from 1993 to 2000 at Indian School Muscat, before going on to finish her education – which included a PhD – in India.
“I owe whatever I am today to Indian School Muscat as the teachers there laid the foundation for me,” said Priyanka, speaking exclusively to Times of Oman.
“All my best friends who have been with me till date are all from Indian School Muscat. It takes a lot of challenges to understand your uniqueness as an individual. I have faced a lot of challenges in my life and I choose to face them and come out victorious. I had decided that whichever profession comes to me. “I want to be different and unique in my profession,” she added.
“There is always a ‘behind the scene’ story for every successful individual. Success is never easy. There is no short cut to reach to your destination and one needs to climb the stairs one by one with lot of hard work, determination, courage and enthusiasm without loosing the fire inside you to achieve your goal. It is said that when an opportunity knocks at your door, harness and utilise the chance to show your skill and expertise. Many opportunities came my way at a very early stage of my life and I utilised them all to the fullest.”
Priyanka was also invited to share her research with students at the prestigious Harvard University in the United States, one of many speaking engagements she has undertaken, the latest among them being at a TEDx talk in Dubai.
“Harvard University is known to be one of the premier and best universities in the world,” she added. I feel fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to present my research paper and one of the very few students from Asia at a student level to present a research paper challenged. I got this opportunity during my MBA and it was a platform which made me get confidence in research and pursue my passion further and formalise it into a PhD.
“TEDx has always been my dream because it a platform given to inspire millions of people. Being in the field of teaching and education, I wanted to inspire many to achieve and go beyond their comfort zones and reach great heights,” added Priyanka. “It was wonderful experience to give a talk on ‘The ECG Formula’. I coined a different meaning of ECG where E meant Encourage, C stood forCreativity and G represented Growth.”
Having learned so much from her time as an educator, Priyanka now wants to make her mark in the field of education, with the fervent hope of changing others peoples’ lives for the better.
“I have faced many challenges during my education. I have faced a lot of health challenges, bullying, over five surgeries, and challenges with people,” said Priyanka.
“One can rise above them only by being self-motivated and by telling yourself ‘this too shall pass’. After every dark cloud comes a ray of light. The advice I would give is that every challenge has solution, face challenges boldly, never give up, family is your strength. Also, it is important to dream big and achieve your goals in life, show excellence in your craft, embrace change and act accordingly and be passionate.
“If you ignore the noise, you can focus on your goal,” she added.
“I want to educate millions of students at the higher education level. Also, I want to be instrumental towards revolutionising the higher education industry. I want to innovate more, teach more, experiment more, research more and author more books and be an inspiration to millions of students.”
