Muscat: Three of the eight Omanis who were detained in Hyderabad, India over alleged child marriage cases have returned to the Sultanate.
Emotions ran high as the three Omanis — Suliman Al Shiyadi, Yasir Al Awadi and Mohammed Hhalfan Al Shiyadi — met their families for the first time in months, after landing at Muscat International Airport.

The three were also welcomed by Yousuf Al Afifi, Vice-Chairman of the Oman Human Rights Commission, the organisation that played a vital role in securing the return of the Omanis' passports.
"The committee is very pleased with the release of citizens and this is a good gesture," Al Afifi said, adding, "We call on the Indian authorities to accelerate the trial of others and achieve justice, and that detainees are granted their rights. We respect the Indian judiciary."
