Expats arrested for running illegal tailor shop in Oman

Muscat: Two old houses in Muttrah were raided in cooperation with Royal Oman Police, and their residents arrested for running an unlicensed commercial tailor shop, Muscat Municipality announced.

A statement from the municipality revealed, "The two houses were occupied by expatriates who are engaged in sewing clothes without having a license. Their materials were seized and legal proceedings were taken."

In a separate case, the urban inspection department also closed a number of shops in Al Seeb for licensing issues, Muscat Municipality announced.

A spokesperson from Muscat Municipality said, "A number of shops have been closed for practicing unlicensed commercial activities and for expired licenses, after a field visit this morning to Mabella industrial area, Jafnain and Al Khoud commercial area."
