Starcare Group opens medical centre in Duqm

Muscat: Starcare Group has achieved a major milestone in the fast emerging industrial hub of Duqm by formally inaugurating its most popular medical centre in the region.
Starcare Medical Centre in Duqm has been functional for the last six months and has already become the busiest of all private providers in the wilayat. The arrival of Starcare has been welcome news to the Duqm community where one of the major concerns of living quality was healthcare.
The centre was inaugurated by Sheikh Mohsen bin Hamad Al Maskari who said, “It is really pleasing to see the expert team of Starcare bringing very practical and effective ways to solve complex problems. I am sure that they will add significant support to the growth of Duqm.”
Starcare Duqm has a large fully automated clinical laboratory, pharmacy, GP and specialist services including ENT. Starcare unit has observation beds and currently handles minor injuries in addition to providing visa medical facility and other occupational healthcare. The expansion plan for Starcare Duqm is underway and will see some innovative ideas incorporated taking into the needs of the region.
“We were the first healthcare team who invested into Duqm back in 2012 and we waited for the right time to have a viable opportunity. We are now working with Duqm authority and various leading employers in the region to plan and create a scalable healthcare system as the population grows. The challenge here is taking care of uncommon but serious medical emergencies while being financially viable,” said Dr Sadik Kodakat, chairman of Starcare Group.
“We faced several challenges in getting this unit up and running which we couldn’t have done without the exceptional support of all the government and other authorities concerned. Everyone motivated us and we feel satisfied with this outcome. We have some excellent doctors and staff in Duqm which makes it even more special,” said Mohammed Al Farsi, the chief operating officer at the inaugural event.
The unit is located in a convenient and is easily accessible. It caters to both the local population as well as the needs of the industrial population.
“The healthcare needs are unique to the region. We hope to work with the people and other stakeholders locally in planning and delivering a service,” added Dr Askar Kukkadi, managing director of Starcare Oman.
