Oman shares open week on a flat note

Muscat: The MSM30 Index ended on a flat note to close at 4,892.98 points, marginally down by 0.08 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index lost 0.08 per cent to end at 689.43 points. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume while Omantel was the most active in terms of turnover. Al Kamil Power, up by 5.88 per cent, was the top gainer of the day, while Muscat Thread Mills was the day’s top loser, down 6.90 per cent.
A total number of 507 trades were executed on Sunday, generating turnover of OMR2.46 million with 9.86 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 9 advanced, 12 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign investors remained as net buyers for OMR250,000 followed while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR212,000, followed by GCC & Arab Investors, who sold OMR38,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained by 0.18 per cent at 7,329.89 points. Al Anwar Holding, Al Madina Takaful, Oman & Emirates, and Bank Dhofar gained by 1.31 per cent, 1.11 per cent, 0.96 per cent, and 0.91 per cent respectively. Global Financial, and Al Madina Investments declined by 3.70 per cent and 1.82 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.02 per cent to close at 6,720.75 points. Al Maha Ceramics, Jazeera Steel Product, and National Aluminium were up by 2.55 per cent, 1.85 per cent, and 1.33 per cent respectively. Muscat Thread Mills, Al Anwar Ceramics, Oman Fisheries, and Voltamp Energy declined by 6.90 per cent, 2.44 per cent, 0.75 per cent, and 0.41 per cent respectively
Services Index declined 0.40 per cent to end at 2,544.14 points. Al Kamil Power and Muscat City Desalination gained 5.88 per cent, and 0.65 per cent respectively. Al Batinah Power, Omantel, Al Suwadi Power, Sohar Power, and Al Jazeera Services declined by 2.21 per cent, 1.68 per cent, 1.45 per cent, 0.87 per cent, and 0.60 per cent respectively.
