Muscat: The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles and Her Majesty The Queen Consort Camilla will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, on Saturday 6th May, 2023. Tens of thousands of people are expected to visit the capital city to experience this unique and historic occasion, with millions more watching from home, across the UK and around the globe.

Coronation Big Lunches, thousands of street parties, and a day dedicated to good causes will bring communities together throughout the UK over the special Coronation Bank Holiday weekend.

On Sunday May 7 a spectacular Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle will showcase the country's diverse cultural heritage in music, theater and dance. One of the highlights of the concert will be "Lighting up the Nation", in which iconic locations across the UK will be lit up with projections, lasers, drone displays and illumination. The activities on Sunday will culminate in a fantastic evening of song and dance at the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle, staged and broadcast by the BBC in front of an audience of several thousand members of the public, selected for free tickets via a public ballot.

The weekend of celebrations will end with the Big Help Out. Created by Britain's best loved charities and organized by The Together Coalition, it will highlight the positive impact volunteering has on communities across the nation.

In tribute to His Majesty the King's lifetime of public service, The Big Help Out will encourage people to come out and support the causes that matter to them. [Colleagues at the British Embassy will also be volunteering their time to support their local communities in Muscat]

Announcing the details of the coronation celebrations of His Majesty King Charles III

Millions of people from across the UK and Commonwealth countries are invited to celebrate the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and his Queen Consort during an eventful weekend.

The coronation ceremony will take place on the morning of Saturday 6 May at Westminster Abbey in London. It is expected that tens of thousands of people will visit the capital to witness this unique historic occasion, and millions more will watch it on television across the UK and all over the world.

On Sunday 7 May a special concert will be held at Windsor Castle showcasing the diverse cultural heritage of music, dance and theater in the UK. One of the most prominent events is "Lighting the Nation", when sites with symbolic meanings are illuminated by spotlights, laser lights, or shows using drones.

Communities also organize group lunches, 'big lunches' and street parties across the UK and Commonwealth countries. The Big Luncheons are held every year across the UK, and last year raised £22m for local charities.

Closing the festivities on Sunday is a splendid evening of singing and dancing at the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle, which is organized and broadcast by the BBC, and is attended by an audience of several thousand citizens chosen by public lot.

The days of coronation festivities will conclude with the "Big Help" event on Monday 8 May - which will be a special holiday announced by the Prime Minister on the occasion of His Majesty's coronation.

Featuring Britain's most popular charities and organized by the Together Alliance, this event highlights the positive impact volunteering has on communities across the UK.

In appreciation of His Majesty the King and his many years of public service, this event encourages citizens to go out to support causes of importance to them.

Big Help Day will see hundreds of events organized by community groups, organizations and charities, including Scouts, the Royal Voluntary Service, the National Trust and the Royal National Rescueboat Foundation. More details on how to participate in these events will be announced.
