New Delhi: Bob Lancia, a former member of the US House of Representatives from Rhode Island who is running for the Senate next year, released a video message expressing his excitement at being invited at the G20 summit in Srinagar on May 22.
“The State of Jammu and Kashmir in India has always held a special place in my heart and I have been closely following developments in the region. I was delighted to hear that Srinagar will be hosting a G20 conference,” he said in his video message.
“It’s an exciting prospect that I am eagerly awaiting the speech of PM Modi. I believe this event will be a milestone in the history of the region and will pave way for lasting peace and prosperity. It’s heartening to see the international community recognising the potential of J and K and the efforts of Indian government to develop the region,” he added.
“ I hope the conference will be an opportunity for all stakeholders to come together and discuss ways to promote economic growth and development, create jobs and enhance the standard of living of people in the region,” Lancia said, weighing on the possible outcomes of the conference.
“I am confident that the G20 conference in Srinagar will be a success and a turning point in the development of Jammu and Kashmir. Let us look forward to a brighter future for the region and its people,” he said.
He also tweeted saying, “An exciting event coming up in India next month. Having the PM there will be the highlight.”
“The 3rd G20 tourism working group meeting will be held in Srinagar from May 22 to May 24. It will be the first such gathering of global leaders in the Region. Indian PM Modi is working hard to drive, peace, global, tourism and progress to the state,” he tweeted.
Many other world leaders have shown a keen interest in the attending the meeting.
